Hopi Woman Making Pottery

A seated woman in a dark skirt, white blouse and red sash shapes a clay vessel in a sunlit courtyard beside an adobe wall. Unfinished pots, bowls and a clay lump rest on the ground and a stone slab, with dried red chilies hanging on the wall behind her. The painting is an oil on canvas, rendered in warm earth tones with careful, realistic detail.
