Sketchbook Page, Folio 95: Three Paintings after Giulio Romano; Verso: Lion and Eagle
A sheet of pen and brown ink with brush and sepia wash shows three horizontal bands of battle. The top band shows mounted soldiers charging across a plain toward a distant town, the middle band shows a tangle of struggling figures near a river, and the lower band packs many combatants beneath a billowing banner. Labels in brown ink appear beneath the first two scenes and at the lower left corner.
