Etching titled VERITAS: a crowned female figure with a book and rays of light, surrounded by attackers, a cannon, and a book labeled tradition.

Truth represented as the word of God assailed by persecution, superstition, tradition, betrayal and violence. Etching by C. Murer after himself, c. 1600-1614.

An etching under the word VERITAS shows a central female figure, bare-chested and crowned, holding a book and radiating light, while a cannon labeled VIOLENTIA and figures with banners and a book inscribed TRADITIO press in from the sides. Fine engraved lines model the figures, clouds and rays.
