Ulysses S. Grant
An engraved oval-vignette portrait of a bearded man in a dark suit, white shirt and bow tie, turned three-quarters toward the viewer against a softly shaded background. The printed caption beneath reads "Ulysses S. Grant" and "President of the United States," and the fine hatched lines show the medium and technique.
