Virgin and Child
An engraving in fine black lines on buff paper shows the Virgin seated in folded drapery, her head haloed and bent over the Christ Child, whom she holds close to her face. Dense hatching fills the dark background behind them, while the cloth falls in angular, crumpled folds across the lower part of the sheet.
