Un grabado en madera en blanco y negro de un libro de historia natural de 1607 muestra un animal parecido a un zorro, con rostro de simio, cuerpo largo y peludo, de pie sobre un grupo de pequeñas crías. El texto impreso encima dice "of the Simivulpa, or Apish Foxe" y la página lleva el número 50 en el margen.
