Woodcut of a small dark figure bent over a tool at the center of concentric oval bands of hatched lines, suggesting a field.

A devil hacks a field with a scythe, woodcut, ca. 1700-1720

A small dark silhouetted figure bends over a blade-like tool at the center of concentric oval bands of radiating hatched lines, set within a rectangular black border. The fine woodcut lines suggest a field of crops or grass, and the hatched rings give the composition a swirling, dynamic rhythm.
