A Woman Asleep (recto); Landscape Composition with Well-Sweep (verso)
A woman in a headscarf rests her head on one hand, eyes closed, her body draped in loose folded cloth that fills the lower half of the sheet. Soft black chalk shading models the cheek, the turban and the heavy sleeves, while the upper left stays blank paper.
Look closer: The verso sketch of a landscape with a well-sweep is not visible on this side; the blank upper left is easy to overlook.
