Academic Study of a Bust of a Roman Senator in Chalk

A chalk drawing on grey-brown paper shows a bearded, curly-haired male head turned to the right, rendered in soft white and dark tones. The figure's features and hair are shaded with delicate hatching, and the bust fades into the paper at the shoulders, suggesting a study after a plaster cast.
