Carved amber disk showing a nude female figure seated on a sea creature, in orange-brown tones against a gray background.

Amber disk with a nereid riding a triton

A small carved amber disk shows a nude female figure seated astride a sea creature with a scaly tail, set among rough waves and drapery. The relief is worn and the amber glows warmly against the pale ground.

Look closer: A small dark inclusion sits to the right of the figure, and drapery folds run along the lower edge.
