Amusement at the Court
A richly dressed courtly company gathers in an arcaded hall opening onto a garden with classical statuary. A lute player and a man in a gold-trimmed coat stand near a table where others sit, while a woman in pink silk reclines at left beside scattered fruit and a dog. The fine enamel-like finish of the oil on copper rewards close looking.
Look closer: A small dog sits at the lower left among the scattered fruit.
