An Allegory of the Triumph over Heresy, with St. Domenic to the Fore
A friar in a black mantle and white habit raises a torch and crucifix above a heap of fallen, writhing figures. Allegorical women with a chalice and a palm frond stand behind him, while an angel descends at upper left and a dove hovers at upper right. The drawing uses pen, gray ink and watercolor over chalk.
Look closer: A small dove hovers in the light near the top right, above the allegorical woman.
