Ideal Head in Profile, Graphite Drawing after Raphael, c. 1789
A graphite drawing on pale laid paper shows a male head in left profile, turned slightly downward, with curling hair arranged in loose spirals over the crown and ear. Soft hatching models the cheek, brow and neck, and a faint drapery line appears at the shoulder. The sheet has a thin ruled border and a small mark at the top edge.
