Ariwara Narihira carrying his lover

A hanging scroll shows a robed figure in a wide hat carrying another figure on his back across a grassy slope, with pale gray hills rising behind and a bare branch at the right edge. Painted in ink and muted color on silk, the scene is framed by a brown and gold patterned mount.
