Base for a Carved Lacquer Scroll Box
A long, low black lacquered box rests on a narrow red base with a carved geometric band along its front edge. The plain dark sides and soft grey backdrop make the form the focus. The base is cinnabar carved lacquer on wood, a Qing dynasty form used to display a carved lacquer scroll box.
Look closer: A carved geometric band runs along the red base's front edge.
