Bowl with Peony Sprays on Diaper Ground (exterior); Chrysanthemum Spra

A deep aubergine porcelain bowl with a white key-fret band near the rim and a finely patterned diaper ground. A branch of pink and white peonies with green buds and leaves curls across the wall, while the foot is banded with pale scrolling. The enamels are crisp and evenly applied, typical of overglaze famille rose work.

Look closer: Partial flower buds and leaves peek in at the far left edge of the bowl wall.
