Silk Brocade Altar Cloth, Edo Period Japan
A rectangular silk brocade in warm brown tones, with a woven pattern of small floral roundels and scrolling motifs in lighter metallic-looking threads across the surface. The cloth is slightly creased and shows wear, with its edges visible at the frame. The record dates it to the Edo period, 1615 to 1868.
