Qing dynasty ceremonial armor coat with gold-thread embroidery, metal shoulder plates and a central medallion, shown flat.

Ceremonial Uniform

A sleeveless-looking ceremonial coat of dense small-patterned silk, stitched with gold metal thread and set with metal shoulder plates, a helmet-like crest, and a round central medallion. Embroidered dragon roundels and a fierce mask-like motif decorate the front, displayed flat against a gray backdrop.

Look closer: A tassel of dark cords hangs at the lower right edge of the coat.
