Graphite sketch of a large dog lying on open ground, head turned left, seen from behind on a pale background.

Dog (from McGuire Scrapbook)

A graphite drawing shows a large dog lying on open ground, its head turned to the left and its body seen from behind. Loose strokes suggest grass tufts, a low rock and soft shadows, leaving the pale paper open around the figure.

Look closer: Faint tufts of grass and a small stone are hatched near the lower left, partly hidden by shadow.
