Empress Maria (1520–1603)
A silver medal shows a woman in profile facing left, wearing a lace-edged ruff, a close headdress and a high-collared gown with diagonal trim. The inscription MARIA IMPER runs around the left edge, with MDLXXV and a small signature at the right. The relief is crisp and evenly lit against the plain field.
Look closer: A small signature or monogram is incised near the lower right edge of the medal.
