Tang dynasty stoneware ewer with olive-green glaze and brown iron splashes, one loop handle and a spout, on a dark.

Ewer

A squat, egg-shaped stoneware ewer with a flared mouth, a single loop handle and a short spout on the shoulder. Its olive-green glaze is splashed with dark brown iron drips that run down the body, and the foot is left unglazed.

Look closer: A small molded lug with a drip of glaze sits just below the rim, near the handle side.
