Fishermen Plate

A porcelain plate painted in famille rose enamels shows three fishermen wading in shallow water with nets and poles, while a fourth works nearby under a pale sky with birds. The rim carries small fishing scenes, pine and blossoming branches, and reeds in pale green, pink and purple.

Look closer: A small flock of birds flies across the sky above the central fishermen.
