Gold aureus of Nero
A small gold coin seen face-on, showing a laureled male head in profile facing right, with a wreath in the hair and a bearded-free, closely cropped portrait. Latin lettering runs around the edge in worn capitals, and the metal shows a warm, even sheen against a plain pale ground.
Look closer: Lettering around the rim reads NERO CAESAR AUGUSTVS, partly worn, visible at the edges of the coin.
