Great Hall within the Villa of Pope Julius, from "Speculum Romanae Mag
An engraved architectural perspective of a monumental hall seen from above. A raised oval basin with a balustrade and a circular pavement pattern fills the foreground, with a stair leading up to a central portal and two tiers of columns, arches and niches along the back and side walls. The fine, even hatching gives the space a precise, measured clarity.
Look closer: A small monogram or inscription appears at the lower right edge of the sheet.
