Harvest of the Dead, plate 63 from The Disasters of War
An etching with burnished aquatint in sepia-brown tones shows a heap of dead bodies sprawled on bare ground beneath a dark sky. A large diagonal wooden plank rises at the right, and a short inscription runs along the lower margin. The tonal wash and loose, scratchy lines give the scene a bleak, crowded density.
