Headdress Ornament
A curved headdress ornament built from openwork metal panels with turquoise-colored kingfisher feathers, red coral accents, and glass beads. Two phoenix-like birds with spread tails flank a central bird, with peony-shaped rosettes at each end of the arc. The gilded metal frame and dangling beads suggest a decorative piece for a formal headdress.
Look closer: Small coral beads are set at the centers of the rosettes and among the feathers, and fine wire coils hang from the lower edge.
