Lithograph of a servant carrying a tray with a teapot beside a seated man at a round table, with a large bundle of hay at her feet.

Herbal Tea: Daumier's Actualités Plate 416

A black-and-white lithograph shows a woman in a long apron and shawl holding a tray with a teapot and cup, while a seated man at a small round table looks up at her. Her bulky bundle of hay sits at her feet, and the caption below carries the satirical joke. Fine crosshatched tonal shading gives the scene a lively, sketchlike quality.
