Illustrations of the Sui and Tang Dynasties

Four armored warriors in a woodblock print, each named by a label in Chinese characters. A bearded figure with a tall, flagged headdress stands at top center, while others brandish spears and clasp weapons on a grey ground. Fine ink outlines and patterned robes give the figures crisp, decorative detail.

Look closer: The bottom-right name label reads 伍天錫, identifying the warrior in the lower right of the sheet.
