Study of Drapery for Science, Iowa State Capitol Rotunda Panel

Pencil study on paper of a seated, faceless figure whose head and body are wrapped in heavy cloth that falls in deep folds across the lap. A fine square grid overlays the sheet, suggesting a preparatory study for transfer to a larger panel. Handwritten lettering in the lower left reads Study of Science and Iowa State Capitol.
