Jar
A squat, rounded stoneware jar with a wide, flat-lipped mouth rises from a narrow foot. Its shoulder and belly are covered in a regular grid of impressed square and lozenge patterns, and the buff-gray surface shows darker firing marks toward the base.
Look closer: Dark firing marks and streaks of iron-stained color run down the lower body near the base.
