Jar with Cover

A squat, rounded stoneware jar with a short everted rim and a narrow foot rests on a neutral gray ground. Its soft turquoise glaze is broken by irregular purple splashes that pool across the shoulder, a hallmark of Jun ware's flambé-like effects.

Look closer: A small reddish-brown stain and wear show at the rim's interior, where the glaze thins.
