Joy with Tranquility (Le Brun Travested, or Caricatures of the Passion
A hand-colored etching shows a stout, curly-haired man in a brown coat and white cravat, his cheeks flushed, passing a folded letter to a wide-eyed, rosy-cheeked boy in a blue jacket who gazes up at him. The exaggerated faces and flat tinted washes mark it as a satirical caricature of an emotion, in the manner of Le Brun's passions series.
