Profile portrait of a man facing right, set in a dark circular field on tan paper. He wears a dark coat with a high white cravat and ruffled jabot, his wavy hair swept back, and the inscription reads "J. Barney. 1804." Fine stipple and line engraving gives the head soft, graded tones.
