Mirror with Animals and Birds
An eight-lobed bronze mirror with a raised silver and gilt relief of animals, including a central creature and beasts that seem to chase one another, set among curling vines, sprays and clover-like blossoms. A beaded rim frames the field, and the green patina of the bronze edge contrasts with the bright metal of the relief.
Look closer: A small blossom sprig rises near the top of the relief, partly hidden by the vines.
