Molière's Tomb and the Old Gate of the Palais de Justice, Paris
An etching on pale paper showing two framed vignettes stacked vertically. The upper wreath-encircled scene depicts a tomb with a inscribed plaque reading MOLIÈRE, while the lower oval shows a Gothic gatehouse with turrets, a central arch and a radiating sun above. Fine hatching gives the scene its tonal depth.
