Music in the Jade Palace
A hand-colored woodblock print shows elegantly dressed women gathered in a palace courtyard, some seated with instruments and others walking across green lawns. Pavilions, a pagoda, a tiled hall and carved balustrades frame the scene, with rockwork in the lower right and mountains beyond the water.
Look closer: A small figure stands on the far left pavilion balcony, half-hidden behind the railing.
