Pair of Roundback Armchairs: Lohan Type
A matched pair of armchairs with horseshoe-shaped continuous backs, vertical splats and rounded arms, set on a plain grey ground. Their wood shows a warm reddish-brown grain, and the seats are inset with woven cane panels. Their stretchers and joinery are simple and open, typical of the furniture's restrained, unornamented structure.
Look closer: The cane-woven seat panels are visible beneath the wooden seat frames.
