Painting of a woman in a white bonnet with a child beside her, both lit warmly against a dark background, with loose, earthy brushwork.

Peasant Woman with Child on Her Lap

A woman in a white bonnet and dark clothing sits beside a young child whose face is turned toward her, both lit warmly against a shadowy background. Her hands rest in her lap, and thick, loose brushstrokes in earthy browns and ochres build the rough textures of the figures and their dark surroundings.
