President Chester Alan Arthur Standing, graphite drawing

A graphite sketch on tan paper shows a bearded man in a long coat and cravat standing full length, one hand resting on a low ledge and the other hanging at his side. Loose, searching lines outline the figure, with light hatching in the trousers and sleeves. The drawing is unfinished, leaving much of the paper bare.
