Saint Reparata Being Prepared for Execution

A kneeling woman in a green gown bows her head beneath a gold disc held by a ring of armored soldiers in red, blue and pale tunics. Their spears and helmets crowd the gold-leaf background beside a pale stone tower at left. The tight grouping and dense gold ground create a tense, ceremonial moment.

Look closer: A tall pointed-arch window in the stone tower at the upper left.
