Chinese woodblock print of satirical vignettes around a seated robed figure with a staff, black outlines on grey paper.

Satirical Prints of Suzhou Customs

A busy woodblock print of many small vignettes surrounding a central seated figure in robes, holding a staff, with a crowned attendant nearby. Figures tumble, kneel, carry pots and perform acrobatics, drawn in crisp black outlines on a grey ground.

Look closer: A plucked fowl hangs from a pole on the right, next to a small figure carrying a pot.
