Scepter (Gui) with Miscellaneous Poems by Tao Qian (365–427 CE)
A long, flat, pale white jade scepter lies horizontally against a black ground. One end is a narrow ridged grip pierced by a small hole; the other tapers to an angled blade. Fine engraved characters run along the central face, and the stone has a faintly mottled, frosted surface.
Look closer: Fine engraved text runs the length of the central face, nearly invisible at a glance.
