Painted half-length portrait of a bearded man in a yellow straw hat and blue jacket, set against swirling orange and blue brushstrokes.

Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat, 1887

A painted self-portrait of a bearded man in a yellow straw hat, shown from the chest up against a background of loose, rust-orange and blue brushstrokes. Short, directional strokes of paint build the face, jacket and hat, creating a vibrant, textured surface typical of Post-Impressionist oil painting.
