Shakyamuni as an Ascetic
A gilt bronze figure of a thin, bearded ascetic seated on a lotus base, his head resting on one raised hand and his knee drawn up. Fine engraved patterns cover the robe and pedestal, and dark pigment remains in the hair and beard.
Look closer: Engraved lotus petals and scrollwork cover the base around the figure.
