Solitary Colors of the Autumn Woods

A vertical hanging scroll in ink on silk shows steep, mist-wrapped mountain peaks above a dense autumn forest of tall, leafless trees. A small thatched hut sits near a stream at the lower center, half hidden among the trunks. Inscriptions and red seals run down the upper right.

Look closer: A tiny figure, possibly a scholar, sits near the hut beside the stream.
