Statue of Osiris in a Garden

A large pen and wash drawing shows a tall statue with a sculpted head-cover and a kilt-like garment standing at the right edge of a formal garden. Terraces, balustraded steps, clipped trees and distant hills recede across the scene, with small figures near the statue and a tilted inscribed block at right. The inked lines and brown wash give the scene an antiquarian, dreamlike quality.

Look closer: A small signature 'Jan Goeree del.' is written in the lower right corner.
