Stele with Shakyamuni and Maitreya
A standing Buddha with a serene face and a raised right hand stands at the center of a pointed arch, framed by a ringed halo and flying celestial figures. Four attendant bodhisattvas stand in pairs on lotus bases, and carved guardian beasts flank the lower corners. Traces of red and other pigment remain on the marble.
Look closer: A small seated figure with a halo appears in the flying celestial group at the top of the arch.
