Summer Mountains (after Dong Yuan [active c. 937–75])
A tall ink mountain rises at the right of this hanging scroll, its textured slopes dense with trees, while a misty valley, distant hills and a river recede to the left. Ink washes on brown silk give the landscape a soft, humid quiet, with bare trees framing the lower foreground.
Look closer: Red seals are stamped along the left edge and in the lower corners.
