Teapot with Landscape and Imperial Poem
A round brown stoneware teapot with a looped handle, short spout and domed lid with a band of incised key-fret pattern. On the body, gold pigment traces a landscape of a twisting pine, rocks, a small pavilion and distant hills. The surface has a fine, matte, speckled finish typical of Yixing clay.
Look closer: A tiny pavilion with a small figure lies among the gold rocks near the base of the pot.
