The Battle of Yashima, from The Tale of the Heike (Heike monogatari)
A gold-leaf folding screen shows a naval and land battle along a dark blue sea. Mounted warriors in armor crowd the golden foreground, while boats with oarsmen and archers cross the water toward a walled, tiled-roof enclosure on a green headland at upper left.
Look closer: A small rider and horse appear near the lower-left edge, partly cut off by the screen border.
